Just wanted to thank you for the encouragement. I am going to homeschooling a 15 year old this year and this is my first experience with homeschool programs. I have my associates in early education and was a home-based head start teacher for four years in the 80's so I guess you could say I have a little experience but this is still kind of scary for me. Reading your comments has given me the little push I needed to give this my best try. Thank you.

I'm not sure about the email updates but if you have a Feed Reader you can subscribe to my RSS feed and you would get anything I've posted in that. Google has a free reader and Windows Live Mail does as well.

I see! Thank you so much for your fast reply. I have learned so much here. Is there a way that I could sign up for this blog where I can get the new blog post in my e-mail?

The other 400 hours are open for elective courses such as music, physical education, bible study, foreign languages, sign languages, art, home economics, and just about any other creative subject you can think of that wouldn't fall under reading, language arts, mathematics, history, and science.

I really enjoyed this. I just started homeschooling this year. I still learning all the laws. This was one that i'm having a hard time with. My only question is the law says 1000 hours but 600 hours must be in the five required subjects. Well what do I do with the other 400? I hope you understand what i'm saying.

Thanks,
Doniell

Thank you, I am reminded again even after home schooling for8 years, that I have been overdoing it. Burning myself out in just a few months after starting. I realize that I have so much to do and so many hats to wear that I have to not "overschedule" our school hours. It only frustrates me to where I am not a likable teacher, and I have aquired health problems from the stress. You have made me realize once again that I need to calm down, slow down, and not try to do it all every day.

Many blessings

I'm anxious to see this form!! We just moved from Indiana where we are only required to track days of attendence. Tracking subjects and hours is all new to me so it's nice to see someone has gone to all this effort and is willing to make it available. (My son is only 6 so I understand the tracking isn't required until next year but it will be good to practice and see just how many hours we cover).
